The name speaks for itself

Due to its position, the town of Mähring was particularly affected by the Iron Curtain. Where previously an exchange with neighbouring towns and villages was common, suddenly there was a death strip. The Living Museum Mähring tells the tale of life in a border zone, of flight and expulsion and of a vanished village called Lohhäuser. However, it also tells of the time after the opening of the borders, when friendships with the Czech Republic were born and the focus was once again on a shared history.
